The Delegation of China Acrobats Association Attends
The 29th FISM World Championship of Magic in Italy
From July 14 to 18, 2025, at the invitation of the FISM World Championship of Magic (WCM) Organizing Committee, Mr. TANG Yanhai, Vice Executive President of the China Acrobats Association, led a delegation to Turin, Italy, to attend the 29th FISM World Championship of Magic. During the visit, the delegation participated in the FISM General Assembly, extended support to Chinese contestants, and held meetings with FISM International President Andrea Baioni as well as leaders of other magic organizations. This productive visit helped China Acrobats Association strengthen international ties within the magic community, establish several cooperative intentions, and gain valuable insights into global magic trends, offering new pathways and references for innovation in China's magic arts.
On July 15, the assembly was held at the Lingotto Congress Center in Turin. More than 60 representatives from member organizations in over 40 countries attended the Assembly. President Andrea Baioni presented a comprehensive report on the federation's developments over the past three years. Key agenda items included the approval of financial statements, the election of two new vice presidents, and the selection of Busan, South Korea, as the host city for the 2028 World Championship of Magic.
The six-day championship, which opened on July 14, attracted over 2,000 participants from more than 40 countries and regions. The event is of an unprecedented scale, with 71 guest performers and 160 contestants. The content is rich and diverse, including 8 competitions, 25 performances, 53 lectures, as well as prop exhibitions, salons, and other activities. Notably, two new competition formats are introduced this year: online magic and street magic, paving the way for future event expansion. Chinese contestant ZHAO Jun was shortlisted for the online magic competition. A total of 15 Chinese contestants (including Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) participated, second only to France (19) and Spain (18). HUANG Qianyu from Taiwan, China won the bronze medal in the Stage Manipulation Category, and CAO Yang from Hong Kong, China won the Magic Invention Award. Although the three young contestants recommended by our association, ZHANG Junzhe, ZHAO Yujia, and WANG Yuanjie, did not win awards, their scores were more than 10 points higher than those in the Asian Championship of Magic, showing significant progress and promising prospects for the future.
During the visit, the delegation engaged in strategic discussions with multiple magic organizations and prominent figures, including Andrea Baioni, President of FISM; David Spada, President of the Rome Magic Club; WEI Ou, Vice President of the Sino-Italian Economic and Cultural Exchange Center; LAI Ya, Editor-in-Chief of World China Magazine, etc. Also, they established several cooperation intentions, including co-hosting the 2nd FISM International Magic Advanced Workshop in 2026 and the China-Japan-South Korea “Challengers’ Live” Magic Competition, exchanging visits with Spanish and Italian magic circles, publishing Chinese acrobatics knowledge in World China Magazine to showcase the unique artistic charm of Chinese acrobatic culture to Italian readers, etc.
